THE WEEK AHEAD
This weekends action comes from Haydock Lingfield Wincanton and Wolverhampton. Haydock takes centre stage and features a Gold Cup trial in the shape of the Peter Marsh Chase over three miles. Last year's race saw eventual Gold Cup runner-up Take The Stand toiling in third behind a very impressive Lord Transcend, trained by Howard Johnson. The County Durham handler could let his flashy grey performer try for back-to-back victories in the three-mile race if conditions are suitable but he faces no easy task in what is always a well-contended event. Lingfield could also feature a Festival fancy as Arkle Trophy favourite Racing Demon may turn out there after missing an intended engagement at Ludlow. Trainer Henrietta Knight has earmarked the Grade Two Lightning Novices' Chase as a possible outing for her stable star. Check out Man In The Know's advice for the weekend.
