THE WEEK AHEAD

The final Classic of the season this week as focus turns to Doncaster for the Ladbrokes St Leger. The one-mile-six-furlong contest was established in 1776 and boasts some excellent stories in its lengthy history. Frankie Dettori has won three of the last five renewals and will be hoping Rewilding can help him to a sixth triumph overall this time. The festivities kick off at Doncaster on Wednesday with decent handicaps and the Listed DFS Scarborough Stakes over five furlongs. Thursday's highlights are the Weatherbys Insurance £300,000 2-Y-O Stakes and the Group Two Park Hill Stakes. Friday's highlight the two-mile-two-furlong Doncaster Cup, which is also set to attract top stayers, including Jamie Osbourne's stable star Geordieland. With the DFS May Hill Stakes and the Flying Childers  it should be a cracking afternoon of sport. The rest of the action comes from Chester, Goodwood, Kempton and Sandown

10/04/10: Tony McCoy ended his Grand National jinx in superb style as he claimed victory at the 15th attempt on board the 10-1 Don't Push It.  He jumped the last with Black Apalachi but pulled away to give Jonjo O'Neill and JP McManus their first wins. Black Apalachi (14-1) was five lengths behind, ahead of State of Play (16-1). Joint favourite Big Fella Thanks finished 4th. McCoy, the 14-time champion jockey, has ridden more than 3,000 winners, but Grand National victory had remained frustratingly elusive before Saturday.

Dec 2009 - Kauto Star became the first horse to claim a record four consecutive victories in the King George VI Chase.  The 8-13 favourite was never challenged. Ruby Walsh safely guided the dual Cheltenham Gold Cup hero over the last three fences for a great win. Madison du Berlais edged out Barbers Shop in a race for second. The triumph for Kauto Star sees him eclipse the achievements of Desert Orchid, who won Christmas showpiece 4 times in 5 years.

October 2009..........Sea The Stars the first horse in history to win the 2000 Guineas, The Derby, Juddmonte, The Eclipse and the Arc in the same season has been retired. The 3 year old was beaten once in 9 starts and that was on his debut. He amassed nearly £4.5million in prize money. His performance sparked comparisons with the likes of Dancing Brave, Mill Reef and Sea Bird.

The biggest win for MEMBERS came in the 2007 Grand National when Silver Birch won at odds of 33/1. Touted up weeks before at 60/1 + and all rates down this was the best bet of the season....................Join Albion Racing MEMBERS now for the best tipping service on the internet........Albion Team........subscribe here.
